Lesson notes
Where did you learn about sex? If you’re like most men, it was probably from porn. Men of our era are standing on the influence and programming of a few generations of sexual programming that teaches us the following:
1) There’s only a certain way to have sex,
2) we should want it all the time,
3) we should get a lot of it,
4) and only certain men with certain physical attributes are good at it.
Waking up to the truth that we have been sold sex at the cost of it’s true potential and power is a sobering reality. In this video we are going to explore what was not taught to us and how sex is a lot more than just purely a technique and physical — how it is an extension of your being as a man and how you live your life.
Discussion Questions
Questions we invite you to reflect on in regards to you relatinships to sex and how you learned about sex:
- Write down some of the things you were taught about what it means to have great sex, and some of the places you learned about sex (ie. porn, sexual education class, friends, parents).
- Based on the first question, describe the narratives and stories that are shaping how you think and sex today.
- Be very honest with yourself here: why do you have sex? Don’t fool the simplicity of this question for its depth.
